The Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship (WISE) programme is a new grant initiative as part of the ‘Inspiring all Australians in Digital Literacy and STEM’ element of the National Innovation and Science Agenda.

The Australian Government will provide funding of up to $250,000 per project over a maximum of two years for the WISE programme. The Australian Government has allocated $8 million for the programme for the first four years from 2016-17 to 2019-20. We expect to hold funding rounds twice every year.

The programme provides funding for businesses, not-for-profits and research organisations to support outreach programmes that target girls and women to:

  • increase awareness and participation of girls and women in STEM and entrepreneurship education and careers, including in schools through to university and to the research sector
  • increase participation of girls and women in other parts of the innovation ecosystem including innovative businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurial activities and careers
  • stimulate an increase in the number of women in senior leadership and decision making positions in government, research organisations, industry and businesses.

The programme is now open for applications.
