Get inspired about STEM: new video

It is essential that we instil a life-long passion for science in our next generation so they are inspired to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

STEM skills will become increasingly important as technological change continues to transform the nature of the way we work. In fact, it is estimated that 75 per cent of jobs in the fastest growing industries require STEM skills.

Through the Inspiring Australia – Science Engagement Programme, the Australian Government is providing grants for students to attend domestic and international science related competitions and events.

These grants help students participate in events that will increase their interest and engagement in studying science and pursuing science based careers.

The Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement and International Competitions element of the Inspiring Australia – Science Engagement Programme, is now open for applications.

Eligible projects include student participation in international science fairs, getting innovative students in contact with entrepreneurs, or funding students to attend an exciting STEM conference, competitions or other STEM-related event.

By using a hands on approach the Australian Government hopes to inspire our next generation to consider a career in STEM.
